Things were not looking good for Milan after they fell behind in the third minute to a Robert Acquafresca goal.
However Alberto Gilardino equalised on 61 minutes and then with just five minutes remaining Pirlo scored with a wicked swerving free-kick to earn the Rossoneri a priceless 2-1 win.
“We had started the match decently, then Cagliari quickly managed to open the score and things became more difficult for us, especially because they closed themselves down in defence, leaving no space,” said Oddo.
“Nevertheless we immediately tried to get back into the game, perhaps we conceded too much, but then came our goal and on the second one Andrea was brilliant in the way he hit the free kick.
“We managed to win thanks to two great champions.”
Oddo also looked forward to Wednesday’s Champions League trip to Benfica.
“Now we have the Champions League, it would be nice to seal our qualification on Wednesday night against Benfica so we can play the last match of the group stage without needing to win at all costs and allow for some player rotation," the wing-back concluded.
