Galliani Demands First Place

Milan general manager Adriano Galliani was satisfied following the qualification to the next phase of the Champions League, but now wants the team to end the group stage in top place in order to play the second leg of the next round at home.

Galliani was very happy that his team managed to hold on to a draw against Benfica and allowed the Rossoneri to reach the last sixteen with one matchday to go.

However, the vice president is now demanding one last effort from his players.

"We must finish the group in first place," declared Galliani at the end of the game. "And this is not only to avoid dangerous teams but also to play the second leg at home.

"In the first half I saw a nice game by both teams and two beautiful goals," he added.

Galliani also spoke about Saturday's clash against Juve.

"Milan must finish amongst the top four, whereas Juve is amongst the top four and we must absolutely decrease the gap.

"Milan must play in the Champions League, even though so far we have lost so many points at home and the league position is not optimal."
